Tuffbrushes R Us

Haha oh lord I've enquired about joining the Birmingham Writers Group. They sent me a reply asking me to send a sample of my work.

Why do I need to send a sample of my work?
Don’t panic. We need the sample merely to assess that you can write in English without significant spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes. We also need to see if your sentence construction and chosen sample indicate that you possess the basic skills required to be a writer. If we decide that our group is not for you, we will let you know why and offer further suggestions.

I hope I've passed the test. I do often wonder about my basic skillzzz.

At the end of this month they have 'summer drinks in the Briar Rose bar'. It all sounds very swank. They may have lied to me when they told me that their membership varies in ages. I'm slightly suspicious that it's going to be a bunch of old ladies writing poetry about cats [which would be no bad thing]. It just might feel like I've stepped into a whole new world that I'm too young to embrace. I'm also worried by one of their regular workshops which has been dubbed 'instant writing - based on randomly selected words'. I can only hope that the first randomly selected word will be 'vagina' and we will all have a jolly old chuckle or even a hearty belly laugh. That would be a nice ice breaker.

Overall I'm excited. Maybe I'll meet some new friends too from all crazy walks of birmingham life. There will be many 'tuffbrushes' exchanged in convo, no doubt ;D
